As you progress through the chapters, new wands will unlock. In order to use these wands with the highest benefit you will need to upgrade them. While changing your equipped wand it's important to salvage the previously equipped wand to claim back the upgrade materials. 

Salvaging is free to use and you will never lose any materials during the process.
