Screw Jam features unique boosters and screw types that add complexity and strategy to the game. Here’s an overview of each mechanic to help you master the game.
1. Shaped Screws
Shape involves screws of different shapes, such as circles, triangles, and squares. You must match screws with identical shapes to clear them.
2. Ropes
Certain screws are connected by Ropes. When one screw is sent to the toolbox, its connected partner will automatically follow.
3. Iced Screws
Iced screws are covered in ice and cannot be cleared directly. To break the ice, you must successfully send three other screws to the toolbox.
4. Shutters
Shutter screws alternate between open and closed states with each move. They can only be interacted with when open.
5. Bombs
Bomb screws display a countdown number. You must send them to the toolbox before the countdown reaches zero, or they will explode, causing you to lose.
6. What is the Chain mechanic?
Certain screws are connected by Chains. To free a chained screw in the center, all other screws linked to it by the chain must be cleared first.
7. Keys and Locks
A Key screw unlocks screws that are locked. To access locked screws, the Key screw must first be sent to the toolbox.
8. Swapper
Swapper screws can switch their colors with each other, altering your color-matching strategy.
